Did you know that you can get a luxury sedan with performance to spare, that you won’t need to rob a bank in Weyburn, Estevan, Carlyle, Radville, or Regina to be able to afford? You can, if it’s the superb 2024 Cadillac CT4 compact luxury sedan you’re looking at. Just look at what you get for the MSRP, and you’re sure to agree that the compact Caddy is exceptional value for money. With a good range of models and performance available, the 2024 CT4 appeals to an even broader spectrum of shoppers and budgets.
Most families are made up of members with different personalities, and the 2024 Cadillac CT4 family is no exception. On one side of the family, you have the reasonably sensible members of the standard lineup, consisting of the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport models. All three are standard rear-wheel-drive, but AWD is available. The standard equipment levels are impressive, and Premium Luxury and Sport models have the same starting MSRP.
However, just as every family also has its livelier, edgier members, the 2024 CT4 household has a couple of them. The V-Series is a more performance-orientated option than the three standard models, but the full-blown hooligan of the family is the awesome V-Series Blackwing that places power and performance firmly at the top of its agenda.
A 2.0-litre turbo-four engine producing 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission, is the standard unit for the 2024 Cadillac CT4. If your preferred trim is the Premium Luxury, you can upgrade to a 2.7-litre turbo-four producing 310 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. If you opt for the 2.7-litre turbo-four, the eight-speed automatic transmission gets upgraded to a 10-speed unit.
The V-Series still has a 2.7-litre turbo-four under its hood, but in this case, the engine gets tuned to produce 325 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. The most power and performance available for the CT4 comes in the shape of the exclusively rear-drive V-Series Blackwing, which features a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V-6 with 472 horsepower and 445 lb.-ft. of torque. And if you’re wondering what that means in practice, how does zero to 100 kph in four seconds sound?
We can’t pretend that it will be easy to choose which version of the 2024 Cadillac CT4 to buy. The standard specification of all models is outstanding, including the entry-level CT4 Luxury with its 8.0-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Premium Luxury and Sport models have the same MSRPs but go down different routes to suit different drivers.
Both models come with 18-inch alloy wheels, but the Premium Luxury gets all-season self-sealing tires while the Sport gets all-season run-flat tires. The Sport model gets black external trim around the windows and elsewhere, but the Premium Luxury favours chrome instead. While higher trim levels get more standard features, the main upgrade is usually the engine and performance. High trim levels do, however, offer many more upscale options than more basic models. Available features include Super Cruise and a 12-inch diagonal HD reconfigurable driver cluster with a head-up display as part of the technology package.
The 2024 Cadillac CT4 offers an outstanding blend of luxury and performance and can also represent excellent value for money.
