If you’re shopping for a new subcompact SUV in Weyburn or Estevan and luxury is a priority, the 2024 Cadillac XT4 is an obvious choice that can also be excellent value for money. The XT4 looks as good as it drives and is seriously good to drive. If excessive bulk and terrible fuel economy are what you’re looking for, the XT4 isn’t for you. But if you want a luxury crossover SUV that’s spacious, agile, comfortable, technologically advanced, and relatively economical to buy and run, the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 could be precisely what you’re looking for.
The 2024 Cadillac XT4 may have got a makeover this year, but the trim levels remain as compact and easy to understand as the vehicle itself. However, you might find the XT4 family a little less conventional than some. The three trim levels of Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport don’t conform to the convention of a base, mid-range, and top-of-the-range models. The XT4 Luxury remains the entry-level offering, but one that’s far too well specified and desirable ever to be called a “base” model.
What’s different about the lineup is the 2024 XT4 Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels share top billing and identical starting MSRPs. There are no secrets here, however, as the Premium Luxury and Sport trim level names tell you much of what you need to know. The Premium Luxury concentrates on the luxurious elements, while the Sport delivers a sportier look and a suspension system designed to be more engaging for enthusiastic drivers. New front and rear fascias and new LED lighting bring the XT4 in-line with other recent Cadillac designs, and there are new interior colour and décor choices that make the new XT4 an even more desirable proposition than it was already.
The no-nonsense approach of the 2024 Cadillac XT4 continues with the powertrain, with every model utilising the same engine. The entry-level XT4 Luxury is front-wheel-drive in its standard format, with all-wheel-drive available as an option. At the same time, Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels get all-wheel-drive as part of their standard specifications.
The gas engine powering the XT4 in all its forms is a 2.0-litre turbo-four engine that produces 235 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, which comes mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. AWD versions of the 2024 XT4 feature a driver-activated front-wheel-drive mode for improved fuel economy when all-wheel-drive isn’t required.
The XT4 may get classified as a subcompact crossover SUV, but passengers sitting in the rear of the Cadillac enjoy a generous 39.5 inches of legroom while those in the front get an equally impressive 44 inches. As well as being generously spacious, the cabin of the XT4 also shouts luxury and quality. And while comfort and luxury are obviously priorities, safety is also well taken care of, with all models featuring standard automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, tire pressure monitors, and plenty of airbags.
The standard features and equipment list for the Sport and Premium Luxury models are as impressive as you’d expect for a Cadillac. One of the most notable XT4 enhancements for 2024 is the introduction of a stunningly integrated 33-inch-diagonal advanced LED display that’s inspired by the brand’s EV SUV and is capable of a stunning 9K resolution. The standard and available driver-assistance features are upgraded, and there’s also an available AKG 13-speaker sound system to elevate the audio experience.
Despite its subcompact exterior dimensions, the 2024 Cadillac XT4 lives up to the brand’s reputation for luxury and quality in every way. Especially after a stunning refresh for the new model year. It may be the smallest crossover in the lineup, but it’s surprisingly spacious and packed with enhanced standard and available features.
